Tiffany Glass--Historical Overview. Tiffany Favrile glass was manufactured in Brooklyn,NewYork by Louis Comfort Tiffany from about 1893 to 1933. The glass is irredescent with rich colors ranging from green to yellow gold and from blue to purple. Carving through one layer of glass down to another color was a technique used to enrich decorative pieces. Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) was born in New York City and studied with George Iness as well as in Paris. Colored glass vases, cigarette boxes and tiles for walls and floors were some of the first products manufactured. The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation was extablished in 1919.
